Contribute Financially

SHIP Aid's largest expense is shipping collected supplies.  The cost to send a 20' foot container from California to South Africa is approximately $5000 (this figure includes shipping, customs clearance fees, and trucking the supplies from South Africa to Lesotho, which is approximatley an 8-hour drive inland). Contributing to S.H.I.P. Aid provides immediate benefits by allowing us to ship critical supplies to children living in desperate need.  It is our pledge to you that 100% of your donation will go towards supporting orphans, children affected by AIDS and HIV/AIDs patients in Africa.

Medical Supplies are donated to the following hopitals in rural Lesotho...each of these hospitals are located in very hard to reach areas with scarce resouces:

  • Tebellong Hospital in Qacha's Nek district
  • St. James Hosptal in Thaba-Tseka District
  • St. Joseph's Hospital at Roma in Maseru District
  • Scott Hospital at Morija in Maseru District

Donate Plane Tickets or Frequent Flyer Miles

No one at SHIP Aid is compensated for his or her generous contributions of time and energy. Trips taken to Lesotho are personal out-of-pocket expenses by dedicated volunteers.  As such, assistance in this area would greatly be appreciated.  Each shipment sent to Lesotho is coordinated with at least two SHIP Aid volunteers.  We believe that it is critical for S.H.I.P. Aid representatives to be on-hand at the time of the shipment arrival to ensure that donated supplies reach intended recipients.  Furthermore, a critical component of S.H.I.P. Aid is to continually evaluate our work with each shipment to ensure that we are effective in our efforts, as well as providing donors with direct feedback.

Donate School Supplies

SHIP Aid believes that one of the most effective ways of benefiting a developing country is to invest in its educational system.  Lesotho schools are in desperate need and the following supplies are most needed to make a child's education come to life:

Youth Volunteer Opportunities (School Kit Project)

While S.H.I.P. Aid’s work extends to Africa’s most remote areas, all of our efforts begin at the local level.  S.H.I.P. Aid School Kit Projects are designed to enable children to help other children in need.  Teachers can form an event at school and encourage students to collect both new and used school supplies (a detailed list will be provided to groups undertaking this project).  Because such a program is so hands-on, the School Kit Project empowers young people by giving them confidence that their actions are directly making a positive difference in the lives of other young people around the world.  Moreover, hosting a S.H.I.P. Aid School Kit Project promotes awareness around issues that plague humanity while directly working to improve the quality of life for those in need.  If you are interested in hosting a S.H.I.P.
